Whit “Troy” Thomaston passed peacefully into heaven on March 16th after a long battle with dementia. He was born on September 6th, 1935, in Valley, Alabama to Whit Asberry Thomaston and Willie Mae Brooks Thomaston. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960. After his service, he settled in Atlanta, Georgia, and married Frances Elizabeth Hadaway, “Beth” in 1960. He started work soon after their marriage at Wink Davis Equipment Company, selling dry cleaning and laundry equipment. His natural friendliness and charisma led to a successful career there for over thirty years. Even after retirement, he still maintained contact with many customers, offering advice and help to them.
He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Forest Park, Georgia for many years and served there in the choir and as Sunday School Superintendent. He later became a member of Henry Baptist church, where he and Beth were active in the Pioneer Sunday School class.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Frances Hadaway Thomaston, his brother, John Thomaston, his sisters Janie Levins, Agnes Cole, and twin sister, Joy Peace.
He is survived by his daughter, Hannah Thomaston Brown, son-in-law Mark Brown, and grandchildren, Caleb Brown and Callie Brown.
