William Bill Allen Davenport III

Mr. William Allen Davenport III, age 89, of Hampton, GA passed away June 1, 2014. Bill was born in Columbus, GA the son of the late William Allen Davenport Jr. and Johnette Louise Heart Davenport. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings. Bill was known for his outgoing personality and generosity, being a handyman, enjoying a cup of coffee with friends, and most of all spending time with his family. He was a previous member of Jonesboro First Baptist Church and Hampton Kiwanis. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII on the DE35 USS Fair. Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Jean Davenport of Hampton; children, Allen Davenport (Carol) of Buford, Debra Austin (Jimmy) of McDonough, Joey Davenport (Melinda) of Hampton and Kathy Britt (Barry) of Hampton; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Bill Davenport will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014 – 11:00 AM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Smithson officiating. Interment will follow at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, GA at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8:00 PM.
