

Bonnie Byford of McGregor died early Saturday morning, March 6, 2010, at the age of 85. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Reverend David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mrs. Byford was born May 7, 1924, in Oglesby, Texas the daughter of the late Walter Grover and Annie Irene (Brinkley) Duncan where she attended school. On November 14, 1948, she married Burnard Warren Byford in San Saba. After thirty-four years of marriage, he preceded her in death November 26, 1982. After living in Sweetwater for a short period of time, she returned to Oglesby in 1933. She was employed by Smead Manufacturing until her 1982 retirement. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church and a former member of Beta Sigma Phi. Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, canning, caring for her family and pets.
Also preceding her in death were brother, Mike Duncan, Spurgeon Duncan, Volney Duncan, Walter “Dude” Duncan; sisters, Edith Burt and Gladys Henson.
Survivors include two sons, Barry Byford of Hewitt, Brad Byford of Temple; a daughter, Brenda Penland of Waco; a sister, Lola M. Shelburne of Hewitt; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
