

Douglas Wayne “D.W.” McDonald of McGregor went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the age of 85. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Turning Point Assembly of God Church, 2708 Robinson Drive, Waco, Texas with Rev. Thomas D. Hale and Rev. R.L. Whitworth officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Cole Funeral Home.
D.W. was born October 21, 1926, in Beaverton, Alabama, the son of the late Austin and Lois (Barnes) McDonald and attended Guin High School in Alabama. On March 11, 1950, he married Dorothy Nan Weeks, in Columbus, Mississippi. In 1950, he moved to Waco and in 1969, he moved to McGregor. He was employed by General Tire and Rubber Company and rtired in 1988, he retired as a tuber operator after thirty-five years of service. He continued to work at other jobs to include McDonald Recovery Service and John McClaren Chevrolet.
In 1945, D.W. began serving his country in the United States Army with assignments in Alaska and Hawaii until he was honorably discharge in 1950. D.W. and his wife Dorothy were some of the founding members of Calvary Assembly of God Church where they reared their family. In his spare time, he enjoyed coaching baseball and spending time with his family.
Also preceding him in death was a son Jack McDonald; four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Dorothy; three sons, Mike McDonald of Baytown, Bob McDonald and wife Sherri of Waco, Bill McDonald and wife Karen of Speegleville; a daughter-in-law, Chyrll McDonald of Whitney; ten grandchildren, Kevin McDonald and wife Erica, Brittani Marshall and husband Jason, Kami Sudduth, Cheyenne McDonald, Robin Blankenstein, Amanda McKelvain and husband Jason, Hillary McDonald, Dylan McDonald, Hannah McDonald, Sarah McDonald; three brothers, Bob McDonald and wife Martha of San Antonio, James “Shammy” McDonald and wife Clara of South Carolina, Larry McDonald and wife Debbie of Guin, Alabama; a sister, Shirley Sisson of Aro, Alabama; four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
