Jimmy was born on July 15, 1954 to Marvin and Eva (Thompson) Haferkamp in Waco, Texas. He was a longtime resident of McGregor. Jimmy graduated from McGregor High School in 1972. He was a truck driver for over 40 years. Jimmy was a very simple person, his favorite past time was watching the Dallas Cowboys with his best friend, his brother, Robert.
Preceding Jimmy in death were his parents; son, Jim Haferkamp; and brothers, J. D. Thompson, and Robert Haferkamp.
Jimmy leaves behind daughter, Jessica Koen and husband, Ikee, of Jackson, Alabama; granddaughter, Cristianna Koen; sister, Betty Haferkamp of Copperas Cove, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephew.
