Lu Cretia Penny Jackson

Lu Cretia Jackson was born March 4, 1918 in Gonzales, Texas and died age 97 September 24, 2015 at home in McGregor, Texas with her children. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in McGregor with The Rev. Dr. Virginia Jackson and Pastor Jackie Taylor officiating and interment to follow in McGregor Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ann Penny and stepfather, George Henry Penny, brothers- Noah Miller and Caesar Penny and grandson Gregory Johnson. She was wife of one husband Aaron Jackson (deceased). They married in 1941 and to that union five children were born: Virginia Rose Jackson, Wilfred Nolan Jackson, Johnny Louis Jackson, Yvonne Renee’ Jackson-Dodson and Thommye Edwin Jackson. She professed a hope in Christ at the tender age of nine years old and became a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in 1927 where she was the oldest member at the time of her going home to be with the LORD. She was a multi-talented and gifted woman who worked hard as a beautician, barber, seamstress, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and a partner to her husband, who was a self- employed concrete contractor for many years in McGregor.

She leaves to mourn her death five Children, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and a chosen son, Ben Hughes.
