

Margaret Buttrill Cole of McGregor, passed away surrounded by her family Saturday evening, February 6, 2010. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at First United Methodist Church, 500 Madison Street, McGregor with Reverend Lianne Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113, West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, February 8, 2010 Cole Funeral Home. Margaret was born June 26, 1920, in Mount Calm, Texas the daughter of the late Reverend C. M. and Annie Margaret (Broun) Buttrill. She attended school in Fort Worth, Grandview, Whitney, Itasca, and graduated from Dawson High School in 1937. She graduated from Texas State College for Women (later Texas Women’s University) in 1941. She received her Masters in Education from Baylor in 1962. Margaret helped setup the automated data processing for the Army Air Forces during World War II while at the Pentagon. She worked for IBM for over six years in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio before becoming a full time wife and mother. On April 25, 1947, she married Charles H. Cole, Jr. in Cleburne, Texas and moved to McGregor, Texas in 1954. After sixty years of marriage, he preceded her in death, November 14, 2007. Margaret taught Government at McGregor High School and Data Processing at Baylor and MCC. She was a long time and very active member of the First United Methodist Church in McGregor. She moved to the Providence Village of Waco in July of 2009 where she said she began a new adventure and gained many new friends.Also preceding her in death were her sisters Leta Bills and Jennie Files. Survivors include two daughters Sandra Griffin and husband Ken of Boerne, Peggy Helm and husband Derrell of Azle; five grandchildren: David Griffin and wife Rene of Leander, Brian Helm and wife Shelby of Flower Mound, Michael Griffin and wife Crystal of Abilene, Lisa Helm of Argyle, Kimberly Carter and husband Josh of Springtown; six great grandchildren McKenzi and Kylie Carter, Lily and Jaxon Helm, Jake Stamper Griffin and Hayden Cole Griffin, by her goddaughter Margaret Feldmeth and family and several nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends.Active casketbearers will be Ken Griffin, Derrell Helm, David Griffin, Brian Helm, Michael Griffin, and Josh Carter. Honorary casketbearers will be the members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church of McGregor whom Margaret taught for over 30 years. The family would like to thank her minister, Rev. Lianne Turner, the staff of Cole Funeral Home led by Mr. Dale Evers, the 4th floor staff of Providence Hospital, and especially Dr. Nick Schwedock for the comfort and help to our Grandmommie in her final days.
