Mary was born November 25, 1919 in Austin, TX to Frank and Emelia Buratti, who arrived at Ellis Island in 1911 from Comano, Italy. Her parents owned and operated a small grocery store in Austin and it was there that she and her seven siblings learned to speak fluent Spanish and Italian, which Mary delighted in speaking to anyone who understood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, O.S. (Hoppy) Chaudoin in 1993 and siblings Lena Buratti, Frances Mecey, Olive Herrin, Ned Buratti, Victor Buratti, and Frank Buratti. Due to his occupation in construction, they moved all over Texas, settling in McGregor in the early 60’s. Mary was a homemaker most of her life. She was a wonderful cook and could make a meal of almost anything Hoppy brought home from his hunting adventures. Her sense of humor will always be remembered with great joy by her family and friends.
