Clara Bishop Motley

She came from humble beginnings, was proud of her heritage, loved her family, and was always willing to help anyone in need. She danced with Bo Jangles at the Chapman School of Dance and sang and tap danced on radio shows. She met her husband while teaching him the jitterbug. Always a twinkle in her eye, she was strong, generous, loving, and kind. She was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Bertha Bishop, her husband, Howard Mercer Motley, and daughter, Lori Ross.

She will be missed and remembered by her son, Howard M. Motley, Jr. (Judy), grandchildren, Cathy Motley-Fitch (Alan), Brian Motley (Melia), David Meyers, Anna Ross, Sara Smith, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116 will begin at 10:00 A.M., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. and reception on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Burial following at 2:00 P.M. at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116.
