Edward Franklin Knight Jr., often known aa Eddie, passed away peacefully in Richmond on February 15th, 2026 at the age of 87.
Following graduation from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Eddie went on to graduate with a degree in engineering from Virginia Tech. He then went directly into service as an officer in the Army, having attended college on a scholarship from ROTC. After a tour in Vietnam, and service on the US Army base in Germany, Mr. Knight was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain and returned to Richmond. The rest of his career included working at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for more than 15 years.
He is best known for his love of his family, dogs, and spending time at the river, in that order.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marianne, and his daughter, Elizabeth, both of Richmond.
A private memorial service will be held with his family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Richmond Animal League.
