Florence V. Durbin

Florence V. (Smith) Durbin, of Mechanicsville, Va. formerly of Norwood, Massachusetts. Florence died on January 8, 2012 at the age of 93. Born in Boston, Massachusetts she lived in Norwood for 54 years and worked at FM Global as a Price Data Librarian in the Appraisal Department for 25 years. She was a charter member of St. Denis Parish where she served on the Spiritual Development Committee. She was a member of the 1st group of Eucharistic Ministers installed by Cardinal Medeiros in 1972. She helped found the PEP Group and was a member of St. Denis Parish Council. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon F. Durbin and her daughter Nancy Lee Durbin. She leaves three sons, L. Paul Durbin and his wife Joan of Monument, Colorado, Richard J. Durbin and his wife Joanne of Port Charlotte Florida, and Robert E. Durbin and his wife Linda of Mechanicsville, Va.; two sisters, Ruth Peterson of New York and Mary Dunne of California, two brothers, Harold Smith of Maine and Edward Smith and wife Joan of California, three sisters-in-law, Katherine Smith of Massachusetts, Marge Smith of Missouri and Barbara Smith of Maine; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was the sister of the late Helen Natale, Joseph and Robert Smith. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, from 6 to 7pm, at the Atlee Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, Route 301 and Shady Grove Road. A Wake service will be held in the chapel immediately following the visitation on Wednesday, from 7 to 8pm. Interment to take place in Boston, Massachusetts after a Mass at St. Denis Church.
