Allen was born in Covington, VA in 1947 to parents Randolph and Aurelia. He began living at the Masonic Home of Virginia when he was 6 years old. Al graduated from Highland Springs High School in 1966 and went on to attend the University of Richmond where he studied political science. He was manager of the football team in 1968 when the Spiders won the Tangerine Bowl. This team was inducted into the Richmond Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005. Al remained a Spiders fan for life.
Al was one of those people who knew everyone. He served in the National Guard, started working in the radio business, and eventually landed his dream job at Brown Distributing. Al was a true Bud man, working in events and public relations for 19 years before retiring. His love of Budweiser remained strong- he refused to drink anything else. For several years after retirement Al worked for RMC events and continued to play rec softball. He enjoyed working out at the gym when he was able and doing puzzle books in his down time.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, his older brothers James Flint and Edward Flint, and is survived by his wife Katy Flint, four children, and three very loved grandsons.
A Celebration of Life will take place in May, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Masonic Home of Virginia or other charity in his name.
