Linwood Odell Smith passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013. He was the last surviving child of John Wesley and Mary Frances Tyler Smith of Ellerson, VA. Linwood lived most of his life on Reynolds Road in Henrico but last resided at Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center. He is survived by his son, John Wesley Smith; his daughter, Mary Virginia Jones; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was most proud of his working 35 years for Goldberg Company, serving in Patton’s 3rd Army Battery Command, and his deceased wife, Virginia Atkinson Smith. Since 1953 he was a member of Fairmount Christian Church now located at 6502 Creighton Road, Mechanicsville, 23111. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to his church.
Friends and family may call at Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116 on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery followed by a time of fellowship at Fairmount Christian Church.
