She was born on March 1, 1947, in Smoaks, South Carolina, to the late Mary and Willie Clinton Waltz.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Richard Harrison; her two older sisters (Billie Ulmer and Francis Baggett), who were also her best friends; and her younger brother (Pete Waltz).
She is survived by her younger brother Roger Waltz, Brothers-in-law Keith Ulmer and Robert Baggett; her three daughters, Molly Strader (Mike), Melanie Renee Thompson, and Mandy Malak; her stepson, Kris Harrison (Jet); three granddaughters; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a caring, creative, selfless, and deeply dedicated woman. She loved her family and friends wholeheartedly and found great joy in helping others. She would do anything for anyone and was always willing to mend or make whatever someone needed never expecting anything in return. She also gave generously, often donating to charities she believed in, always wanting to make a difference wherever she could.
She had a special love and passion for children, which led her to spend approximately 23 years working in the South Carolina District 50 school system. Her dedication was evident in her perfect attendance and the care she showed to every child she encountered.
As she grew older, she loved sharing stories of her younger years and what it was like growing up in Smoaks. Those stories were a gift to those who listened, a glimpse into the life she lived and the memories she carried with her.
She loved getting into a car and simply riding, often saying she just wanted to see all of God’s beauty.
Margaret loved God and lived her life with faith. She found comfort in knowing she was ready to go home whenever He called her.
She will be deeply loved and forever missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11am at Smoaks Baptist Church, 482 Lodge Hwy, Smoaks, SC 29481.
