

She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Edna Keffer and her youngest brother, Earl Keffer. She is survived by her husband Henry S. Phelps of 59 years; Her daughters, Kimberly Williams (Bernard), Melissa Grella (Brian), four grandchildren, Kennedy and Jackson Williams, Nathan and Porter Grella, Brothers; Tony Keffer (Sandy), Charles Keffer, John Keffer (Bea) and many nieces and nephews.
Graduated from Blacksburg High School, Blacksburg, VA, attended Virginia Southern Business College, Roanoke, VA. Moved to Richmond in 1960 to start her career as a medical transcriptionist. Her talents, in this field drew her to many hospitals throughout the Richmond area, where she ended her career with Virginia Eye Institute. She will be remembered for having the sweetest alto voice as she loved to sing. She joined a sextet in High School, sang in numerous church choirs, as well as in a local Gospel Quartet known as the “Gospel Messengers”.
She was a member of Hanover Evangelical Friends Church, where she served in many capacities, church food ministry, choir, vacation bible school. She took part in many Easter, Christmas plays and cantatas, etc.
She will be missed by all who loved her! The family will receive friends from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, August, 31, 2021 at Woody’s Funeral Home located at 9271 Shady Grove Road. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Woody Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, VA 23150.
