I wish I had known. My heart is shattered. I’m so very sorry. He loved Bailey so very much, she’s all he talked about when we would catch up. I can’t believe it’s true. 

My brother was genuinely a special person, not one of those fakers seeking attention for their good deeds. I've been trying to summarize how special he was, but there is not enough space. 

Following Pat's passing, I met countless people that told me how Pat had touched their life in a way that I was not aware. This is not to say Pat was not braggadocious, but he kept the special moments for those he shared them with.  As the day of his funeral went on, I learned about countless things that Pat did for others that he never wanted credit for.  That was special. 

I promise you, big bro, I will keep the promise I made to you and continue your efforts to keep the family close. I hate that you are gone and will never forget you.

Pat and I worked together several years ago, and he made the (virtual) office a much more fun place to work. His bright outlook, even during some tough situations, provided comedic relief. When we were together in person, he had a knack for making you feel like the most important person in the room.  
That caring personality obviously pervaded his personal life. He shared with us his photographic interest at the time.... chronicling the lifestyle of homeless citizens. He not only photographed these folks, but respectfully spoke to and empathized with them. It was a hobby not for the faint of heart or fakers. Pat was niether, and will be missed.

We certainly live in a time period where traditional visitations and funerals are offset with the worry and concern over COVID-19. I do, however, want to extend to each one of you my heartfelt condolences in the loss of your loved one. I know your hearts are filled with sadness; however, please know many empathize with you and are thinking of you during this difficult time.

I still cant believe he is gone...

I met Patrick through work, but immediately bonded with him.

Patrick was and will always be in my mind and heart all of the following things.
-Bright
-Funny (He always made me laugh)
-Caring
-A Geek
-Someone I trusted and could tell anything too
-Someone who loved and talked about his family
-Someone that I could hang out with for hours and always have a blast and possibly get in trouble with at conferences :)
-Someone that could go toe to toe with anyone about technology and was a perfect partner with me on our work calls.  We were P Squared - Patrick and Patrick 
-Someone who had great dreams (I so wanted to see the Barndominium)

Even though I only knew him for a couple of years Patrick made a big mark on my life that I will miss forever

You were one of the first skateboard friends I made 12 years ago and your friendship means so much to me.  I loved your style and sense of humor and wish we could have seen each other more but when we did it was always a treat.  You are a good one and will be missed so much and we will remember you and you made the world a better place.

I knew Pat since the early 2000s.  We met through our love for the automotive industry.  He became a Team RPM member and a friend.  He was witty, funny, and smart.  We had fun at AutoX events and at car meets.  We did cookouts together.  He moved to VA and we didn’t really get to keep in touch like we used to but we would pick up where we left off from our casual FB conversations.  I found out about his Covid diagnosis in March/April and was keeping in touch with him during his CCU stay.  I’m incredibly sad to hear of his passing.  I know his friends and family will miss him dearly.  We loss a good one.  

I will miss my friend so very much. I used to call him Paddywhack and he called me Toddles. He was always ready to bring a smile to someone's face. He loved "going fast" and always got a kick out of seeing my face when he would punch that little yellow Miata and make that turbo kick in.  It's really hard to imagine a world without him in it. I will miss you my friend. Thank you for the time that you allowed me to share in your journey. Goodbye my friend.
Toddles

When I was pretty young I met Patrick while out skateboarding in Hoptown. He acted like we'd been hanging out forever.  He was always super friendly, and ready to have fun. Dude was one of a kind and always had a crazy smile on his face! 

As his brother and more importantly his friend I have so many memories. From him wrecking the living room with flour everywhere and shattering a glass milk pitcher because he was up first and wanted to make breakfast when he was about 3 to him melting his marching Mickey mouse in the oven trying to dry it at when he was like 6 to trashing a hotel room in our 40's and then fixing everything because we were "responsible". We took so many risks growing up. It's unreal this stupid virus took my little brother. He should have died in a much cooler way. Either way, it's over and there's a big hole in the world. Nobody can replace him, but luckily he has a daughter so there's kind of a back up.     

I worked with Pat in the Collaboration practice at Gartner. I've been an IT industry analyst for 20 years, so I know the hallmarks to look for in an analyst. Patrick had them all: he asked the important questions (and ignored the noise); he had deep knowledge of an everchanging, technical subject; and he was brutally honest in his opinions. He was still early in his career, but he had all the necessary attributes to go far as a Gartner analyst.

Because I knew him only at work, I didn't really see much of the personal side of his life, but I'd catch interesting glimpses. At one point I was complaining that our house air conditioner had died, and he diagnosed it on the spot. When the technician arrived two days later to diagnose and fix the problem, it was exactly what Patrick had described. Another time, he went rhapsodic about motorcycles, and clearly explained why one was better than another if you wanted to do X. He showed us pictures of his house, and explained why he'd designed it a certain way.

At a time when many people just drift through life, repeating ideas and opinions from others, Patrick took the road less travelled. He led what I call an "examined life": he was curious, he wanted to know how things worked so he could fix them, and he had strong opinions. Although he lived a tragically short life, he had more of a life than many people who live to be 60 or 80. He will be missed.

Pat was a great guy. Witty, engaging, and just plain fun. His self-deprecation disarmed you and he quickly became your friend. Pat clearly loved life and loved spreading cheer to everyone around him.

From a professional perspective, Pat was a first-rate analyst. We are a small team, and we have to rely on each other, especially when clients demanded answers to tough questions during inquiries. Pat never cracked under pressure and always had insights to share.

I’m going to miss him. Pat was smart, hardworking and an inspiration for us all.


This Guy was so smart and interesting he was always 1 of my favorite people in school because he lived from the heart and did not ever live fake.  I am so sad to hear he passed we still kept in touch on FB and he had a good heart and funny sense of humor and stubborn true to him mindset.  Much blessings to his family who were so important to him.  I hope we can meet again someday somewhere  and talk about life again together.

I remember when you were just a toddler... you were into everything and you had shiny golden locks... you were so sweet and even then you loved to make people laugh. It made you feel good to make others feel good. I was just a child myself then but even then I knew people would easily love you. I was right. You are so loved. Thank you for all the smiles. Rest In Peace and serenity... you deserve it. The world will be a little less bright without you but we will all look back with fondness on the times we spent with you. It didn’t matter if we spent minutes or years... we all just some how knew our lives were lighter funnier and blessed with you in it. Much love to you always.

Today I laughed thinking about how the first time I met you and how we bonded over tattoos and NOFX and the Misfits that I loved! When you realized I felt like a miss fit you were kind and introduced me to your beautiful wife and daughter. I could pick up the phone text you and say do you have this or that AND OF COURSE YOU DID, then you would say come pick it up and I would stand in your garage and learn the most random things about your childhood and all the cars and toys you broke just to fix.. then you would ask me about some random designer item to buy Bailey lol...the two sides were so cool and real. The advice you gave me as a Mom to Gabrielle, AND THE RIDES IN THE GOLF CART!  The earth lost the most genuine dude, but Bailey is your legacy and she is going to be a game changer and Mary is amazing and I hope you hold them daily.  We will miss you, until we meet again.  Please greet me with a biggie/tupac concert and Janis !!

I worked with Pat for just a couple of years at Gartner and in that time grew to really appreciate his sense of humor. About a month before he passed he had gone to the hospital with COVID and was sent back home because he wasn't sick enough at the time. He was feeling pretty miserable though. I IM'd him to ask him how he was feeling and he writes back "0/10 would not recommend". Even feeling miserable he was still funny. Just a couple of weeks ago, when he was in the hospital and on oxygen, he actually dialed in with video to a team meeting I had going. Someone had asked me how my second COVID vaccine shot went, and I was complaining that it had really kicked my butt. Suddenly Pat speaks up, and his video comes on, and he's in the hospital on oxygen giving me a hard time because I'm complaining about the vaccine. I was thrilled to see him, laughing and crying at the same time. We really thought he was getting better and we're all going to miss him. Godspeed Pat.

I never met Patrick, but I loved how he and Colin Walker and the rest of there  group would go back and forth on Facebook at one another. I will miss seeing his witty and crazy comments. Rest in Peace buddy!  Pam:) 

Pat wasn’t merely funny. He had the rare ability to walk into a situation, call out the people taking themselves way too seriously, and make them laugh in spite of themselves. Pat could size you up in an instant and find that one thing you relate to. He could lower your guard before you knew your guard was up. 

Despite his low-key attitude, Pat was wicked smart and not afraid of anyone. He single-handedly stole the stage from a high-tech executive at a packed conference—without really trying hard.  No matter what your rank he had no problems disagreeing with you. He was almost always right. 

Pat, I am glad you were on our team. I looked forward to seeing your “purty face” on every call, and there is a Pat-sized hole that can never be filled. You wondered if you belonged with Gartner, but the truth was that I wondered if Gartner would get to keep you. I will miss you. 

The first time I "met" Pat was in his panel interview for the job he took with our company.  This process is notoriously difficult, with multiple people listening to the interviewee present, and then answer questions for 90 minutes.  Pat was nervous and stammering and sweaty and... somehow genuinely smiling and very good-natured.  We were all drawn to his personality, even over a video conference.  

That personality was not just for the interview.  Pat fit in seamlessly to a very senior group, was very sharp technically, but also brought laughter, an easy-going spirit, and so many smiles to our team and our company.  It is a rare combination to find a technologist with outstanding people skills, but we sure found it in Pat.  

Beyond that, even though we worked remote, I knew Pat would always help me if he could.  I knew Pat would always chip in to solve an issue.  I knew Pat would "read the room" and lift spirits any chance he had.  I barely knew Pat, compared to most of you - but I knew Pat was a very good man.  I've missed him for the last few weeks he's been sick, and I will continue to miss him.  

If I would have known the last time we messaged each other that it would be the last, I would have said all the sappy things. I didn't get that chance. I would have made the time or way to get my butt to VA, like you asked me to. I wanted to see your "barndimonium" plans and go to the trailer park amusement park with you. You're gone too soon damn it! You made me laugh so much. I love that you still called my mom Jaws. This side of the family is held together by spider webs, but thank you for keeping our contact together. I will cherish my wedding pictures even more now because you were here and you took them. I love you cousin. That didn't get said enough.

I know your gone son but I don’t want you to be. I could alway count on you to drop what ever you had going on to come and help me if I needed it. You were the smartest happiest man I ever knew. It was you that kept this family close to each other. We are not made to lose our children and I now know what that means. We haven’t had a dry eye since the moment we were  told that you had passed. Kathy and I are glad that we got time to spend with you at the hospital. I love you so much son I will never be able to fill the hole that is in my heart. I will see you on the other side. Love Dad. 

Every second spent with you was special to me in some way, shape, or form.  You helped me grow into the person i am today.  Bad times, good times, mildly inconvenient times, and everything in between, you were there for me.  Our arguments, our deep conversations, our lows, our highs, and even our middles were very special to me (yes even the arguments).  You always put my mom and i first and would give up everything you had just to put a smile on our faces.  From our little adventures to museums, other states , and even sheetz to our text conversations when i would just say “u up” and you would say “yea im in the garage”.  I enjoyed every single second.  I just want you to know that we know you tried to hold on for as long as you could and we recognize that.  Don’t feel guilty for letting go.  Yes, this is extremely difficult to go through but I promise my mom and i will be okay.  I will take care of her for you. And she will take care of me as well.  Please don’t worry about us.  Enjoy your time you now have to spend with shawn and jake and elwood and einstein and tell them all i said hi.  You and mommy are the reason i wake up every morning and just because you’re gone doesn’t mean that you aren’t still the reason i get up out of bed every day.  You always will be my best friend and i will ALWAYS be your little girl.  I can’t wait to see you again some day and i just can’t find the words to begin to explain how much I love you.  I hope you know that your brothers, dad, mommy, and i all visited you and I really wish things were different but you left this world knowing how much mommy and i and everyone else loved you and although you weren’t able to say it back, we know you were able to hear us and we know that you love us.♥️ I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me.  I promise you that i will always remember and love you.   You’re irreplaceable.  I will always be your little girl no matter how old i get and you will always be my daddy ♥️♥️  

My heart is broken for your families loss,.
Patrick , i loved you so much, my favorite nephew, you kept in touch and always shared your life with us.  It meant so much to me... I hurt for Mary, Bailey, and Greg, Timmy,  and the rest of the family.   Words cannot tell you how heartbroken i am at the loss of my (nickname) was "Packrat"... i  love you all, and pray you make it through this.   God needed another angel, and spread his wings to escort him to heaven. May he rest in peace free from pain and suffering... God Bless you all!
