

Raymond Lee Rudolph Sr., of Mechanicsville, 88, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on March 31, 2014 after a long struggle with COPD. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jane Rudolph; daughter, Debra "DJ" Shiflett; and granddaughter, Jennifer Rudolph White.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice Drinkwater Rudolph; son, Raymond L. Rudolph Jr. (Brenda); son-in-law, Dennis Shiflett; daughters, Linda Buchanan (James), Pamela Childress (Charlie) and Bonny Campbell; three granddaughters, five grandsons and five great-granddaughters; and his loyal K-9, Lexi. Mr. Rudolph was a native of Henrico County, he was employed by Continental Can Corporation for 21 years, at which time he went into business for his self as a landscaping/excavating contractor for 23 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a life member of American Legion Post 144. Special thanks to his Gentiva Hospice nurses, Peggy Lanier and Angela Beatty.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Atlee Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, Route 301 and Shady Grove Road. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 4, at the funeral home. Interment Washington Memorial Park.
