Shelby Ann Slaughter

Shelby Ann Slaughter, 21 of Mechanicsville, VA passed away on Monday September 28th, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She was born on October 23rd, 1998 in Spotsylvania, VA the daughter of Tom and Mary Slaughter and loving sister to Jackson Slaughter and Thomas Slaughter. Shelby was fierce and determined, accepting each challenge with courage. She was kind and funny with a silly, sometimes outrageous personality. She loved to cook and was a natural in the kitchen always willing to try out a new recipe. She loved the beach and was happiest being with her family and friends, listening to music, shopping or just driving around. She is remembered by friends as a “phenomenal, caring girl full of laughter and joy with a constant smile on her face. She was beautiful inside and out. It is no doubt that everyone in this world needed Shelby as their friend, it was a gift to have her in my life” When you think of Shelby, celebrate the good memories you have and her lovely caring heart. She would want us to remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest. Shelby is survived by her parents, Mary and Tom Slaughter and brothers, Jackson and Thomas Slaughter of Mechanicsville, VA. Grandparents John and Sharon Todd of Reno NV. Grandmother Ellen Swain of Grandy, NC and many loving aunts, uncles & cousins. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 8th from 4 to 6pm at Woody Funeral Home, Atlee Chapel located at 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Friday, October 9 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 105 S. Snead Street in Ashland, VA.
