William Fuller Callis, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the age of 94. William was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ruby Paschall Callis; granddaughter, Aimee Erby West, and great-granddaughter, Sydney Amelia West. He is survived by his children, Timothy Callis, Linda Erby (John), and Rachel Denny (Matt). He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Erin Walker (Tim), Jessica Harrison (Brandon) and Corporal Joseph Denny, United States Marine Corps; and a sister, Barbara Roberts.
Mr. Callis was a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 2583. He worked at B. T. Crump and Auto Equipment; and was a Henry Fire Department life and charter member. William was a deacon at Bethesda Baptist Church in Palmer Springs, VA and at Northside Baptist Church in Mechanicsville; as well as a volunteer for MCEF and Habitat For Humanity.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (today) at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, where services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment in Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
