William Henry Johnson, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, in the comfort of his home. William was born in Hampton, Virginia and attended Hampton High School. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia and worked for Life of Virginia Insurance Company for more than 40 years. William proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations. As a veteran of WWII, he was a member of "The Greatest Generation." He deeply loved family, was an avid reader, and was a joy to all he met. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9.
