William Deane Wilson

William ‘Deane’ Wilson, 88, of Ashland, VA, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Wilson for 47 years and a devoted father to Chandra Brabson and Dana (Lyle) Atkinson. Deane was a cherished grandfather to Hailey Atkinson and Grant Brabson, and a dear brother to Margaret (Milton) Young. He will also be remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Deane was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rhoda Wilson, and his siblings Jan (John) Laughridge, Ruth Caldwell, Ron (Ruby) Wilson, and Beryl (Robert) King.

Born in Yancey County, NC, Deane lived a life marked by integrity, kindness, and humility. He was the owner of Mid-Atlantic Scale and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Known for his selfless nature, wit, patience, and easy-going demeanor, Deane touched the lives of many. His love for others extended beyond his family as he volunteered with the Hanover Christian Firewood Ministry and found joy in woodworking.

A small family service will be held on March 10th at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Mausoleum. Deane’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
