

Dean William Wallace, 89, passed away on July 12, 2014 at his home in the arms of his loving wife surrounded by his family in Medford, Oregon. He was born on February 25, 1925 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana to Clyde Arminos Wallace and Anna Laura Glossenger.
Dean grew up in Rolling Prairie, Indiana and graduated from Rolling Prairie High School in 1943. In high school, Dean lettered in basketball. He worked during high school shoveling coal out of a boxcar for a lumber company. After high school, he joined the United States Army where he served in World War II in Belgium, Germany, and France as a communication operator. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946 at the rank of staff sergeant.
Dean married Gladys Irene Hundt on March 24, 1946. They were happily married for 68 years. Dean worked as a carpenter and built his family’s first home. He was a superintendent and retired in 1980. Dean was a member of the Carpenter’s Union, Lion’s Club, VFW, American Legion, 40&8. He coached basketball for the YMCA for 25 years. Dean was presented Lion of The Year in 1984-1985. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, sports, and playing cards. He enjoyed helping others with construction and remodeling. Dean was a family man. He enjoyed and loved his family. Over the years, Dean and Gladys lived in Rolling Prairie, Indiana: Van Nuys, California: Pasadena, California: Tarzana, California: Lovelock, Nevada: Winter Haven, Florida: Biloxi, Mississippi: and Medford, Oregon.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Anna Wallace, two brothers Oscar Wallace, and Ray Wallace; four sisters Myrtle Miller, Ruth Wideman, Dorothy Trigg, and Laura Wallace, his daughter Patricia Ann Ryan, and his son in law Gregory Lee Emerick.
Dean is survived by his wife Gladys of the home, four children: Gloria Emerick of Lumber Bridge, NC, Dennis Wallace (Susan) of West Hills, CA, Dale Wallace (Laura) of Cotati, CA, and David Wallace of Medford, OR, ten grandchildren: Shanon Cimbura (Brian) of Lumber Bridge, NC, Cam Emerick (Haley) of Siloam Springs, AR, Brandon Wallace (Jennifer) of San Diego, CA, Carlye Wallace of Chatsworth, CA, Trevor Wallace of Los Angeles, CA, Dale Wallace Jr.of Petaluma, CA, Gregory Wallace of Cotati, CA, April Alexander (David) of Valencia, CA, Lacey Leaming (Josh) of Fallon, NV, Lindsi Wallace of Fallon, NV. and twelve great grandchildren: Jordyn Cimbura, Taryn Cimbura, Kyle Cimbura, Lily Wallace, Brooke Wallace, Alana Wallace, Captain Jack Alexander, Morgan Alexander, Carter Wallace, Ava Wallace, Gavin Wallace, and Gracee Wallace
