Elizabeth Elaine Gibson

Born July 9, 1941, in Kearney, Nebraska to the proud parents, Walter and Mary Thaden. They moved from Nebraska to Buel, Idaho in 1947 then from Idaho to Moses Lake, Washington in 1952 where she graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1959. There she met and married her first husband Gary Smith who was an airman at Larson Airforce base in Moses Lake. They had their first child, Kimberely Ann. While Kimberely was still an infant, Beth’s husband was transferred to Wheelus Airforce Base in Tripoli, Libya. A U.S Airforce base located in North Africa. They were there for about two years where they had two sons, Gary Lynn and Jeffrey Scott.

They came back to the U.S and lived in Southern California until they moved to Trail, Oregon in 1970. Beth and Gary divorced in 1975. Beth met and married Bob Gibson. Bob and Beth were married for over 50 years. Beth worked as a grocery clerk first at Trail Market then Eagle Thrift Market. She finished her working career as an office manager and finance officer for Fire District 4 in Shady Cove for 13 years.

Beth died November 6th, 2025, from Interstitial Lung Disease. Beth was the matriarch of our family and is sorely missed. She was loved beyond words, and she returned that love tenfold. We shared 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 29 ½ great grandchildren.

I am free at last. No more hospital beds, no more wheelchairs, no more pain. I’m free to see the face of Jesus.

A memorial service for Elizabeth Gibson will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, located at 56 Williams Ln, Shady Cove, Oregon, 97539. The service is scheduled for January 13, 2026, starting at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service.
