It deeply saddens me to hear of Janice's passing. We worked together for many years in the hospital lab. She was a hard worker and very knowledgeable, but always with a wry sense of humor. Most of all, I will remember our shared love of reading, even to the point of a favorite author-Wilbur Smith-until then, I had never met anyone who had even heard of him. We formed a small book club of fellow lab folks that met off campus for several years. Even after our retirements, Janice and I would occasionally meet at the Ashland Co-Op to exchange our latest book finds, discuss politics which usually meant bashing Trump, plus a dash of personal news and gossip. Janice was also a talented photographer. Her photographs of Lithia Park graced the pages of her yearly calendar gift. It's a shame she was never able to finish her book with these photos that would have included her poetry of the seasons. She will be missed.

I am very sad, writing this in tears and heartbroken that Janice passed away. She was my mentor at the laboratory, my jolly good friend. She touched my heart dearly and always thought about me & family. She was very thoughtful and in fact every Christmas, I always received a calendar with all her photos taken from Lithia Park. She also supported me when I took my Taekwondo blackbelt testing and when my family back home had the typhoon disaster. I emailed her recently when I was checking on her during the recent Jackson County fires and I was worried for her that she didn't reply because most of the time she always does respond. And today 10/22/20 I just found out of her passing. To the family, friends of Janice she was wonderful, happy, and thoughtful. We had sweet happy memories together. We used to dress up at the laboratory together during Halloween and Ms. Janice was one of the nicest, lively, and sweetest talkers at the laboratory. I remember at the laboratory during our working time when she told stories she sometimes forgets that her "test alarm" was alarming and I told her "Ms. Janice your alarm is calling you for help " then she laughed and said, "oh oh how silly I am". And if she forgets something, she would say " Did I do that? then she smiled.
I miss you dearly Ms. Janice. May you rest in peace together with God on your side. Thank you so much for taking care of me and for all the sweet memories we had. Below was our Lab Haloween photo 2006 (I was wearing a long white goddess dress & Ms. Janice on her orange eyeglasses and creative laboratory Halloween costume)

Dear family of sweet Janice,
I send my greatest sympathy to you all.
I worked with Janice for many years at Rogue. We had tons of fun & also worked through very challenging adventures in the lab together. I will never forget her infectious smile, laugh & good humor. Also her strong work ethic. She taught me so much about Laboratory Science. I will miss her greatly.
Lovingly, Chris Peters
