

Dick was born August 29, 1932 to Mel Steele and Caroline (Shade) Steele in Sacramento, California. He served in the United States Navy as a Gunners Mate abroad the USS James E. Keys 747 Destroyer from 1950 - 1954 while participating in the Korean War. Dick returned home to Sacramento for a few years and decided the civilian life wasn’t for him and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the Air Force as a Air Police stationed in Koblenz, Germany from 1956 - 1959. After his service he moved home to Sacramento again and eventually onward to Reno, Nevada. Dick moved to Medford sometime in the last 60’s where he worked at Farmers Pack and United Meats. Dick started working for School District 6 in 1980 at Crater High School and eventually Patrick Elementary School where he ultimately retired from in 1994.
Dick was passionate about family, gardening and life. One of his greatest joys in life was planting flowers and trees at Patrick Elementary and spending time with all the children. He worked along side his wife for many years watching his son and eventually granddaughter pass thought the halls of Patrick.
Dick is survived by his wife Lynn of 41 years, one son Andrew, one granddaughter Jennifer and sister Pat. He was preceded in death by his brother Mel.
