Mary L. Jakes

Mary was born on April 14, 1934 in Lamont, FL, to the late Eugene and Mary (Mays) Roberts.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Willie Jakes Jr. two sons, Willie Ben Clark Jr. and Leroy Jakes, a daughter, Justina Jakes, three brothers, Will, Edmond and Benjamin Roberts, three sisters, Carrie Bell, Burdene and Carrie Roberts.

Mary moved to the Medina area 40 years ago from the Waterport area, Also she lived in the Kent area. Mary loved to fish and listen to music.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Benny (Mertie) Coger Jr. of Albion, Tommy Lee (Danielle) Jakes of Germany, Willie Jakes III of Batavia, three daughters, Katherine Ritchie of Arcadia, FL, Vera (Ramon) Mendez of Medina, Earlean Coger of Pensacola, FL, a close friend and daughter-in-law, Loretta Clark of Albion, three brother-in-laws, Johnnie Freeman and Samuel and James Cleveland of Rochester. 51 grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews.

Mary lived to see five generations. She was a very hard worker. She performed farm work for many years, worked for Duffy Motts, Fisher-Price and retired from BernzOmatic.

She will be so deeply missed, but we know our God does not make mistakes. He saw that our mother was tired and said come home my child and rest. The many that did not get a chance to say a final goodbye, she looked down and still waved goodbye and took her place of rest and may God Bless.

Relatives and friends may call from 6-8 PM on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, 1:00 PM at the Glad Tidings Baptist Church, 404 W. Oak Orchard St. Medina with the Pastor, Rev. Lambert A. Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Boxwood Cemetery.
