

Born on July 9, 1924, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Millard L. and Emma (Ball) Willgens.
At a young age his family moved to Lyndonville, NY. He married the late and former Ruth E. Duhow and together they raised a daughter, Cheryl. In 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict, having served as a cook on the U.S.S. Lindenwald.
On returning home he was employed as a salesman for Cook’s wholesale and lastly retired from Jacob Kern’s of Lockport in 1994.
After his retirement, he spent the last ten years in Flagler Beach, FL, prior to moving to Liverpool, NY in 2006.
He was a member of the Medina Presbyterian Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason in both Yates and Medina Lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite for over 60 years. Neil enjoyed fishing, being outdoors while working in his yard and traveling in senior groups.
Neil is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Paul) Mackey of Liverpool, NY, a granddaughter, Amy (Don) Woodward of Clay, NY and a great-grandson, Colin. Also, a brother, Richard (Sue) Willgens of Kendall, NY and many nieces and nephews.
Neil is predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Robert Willgens
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY from 10:00 AM-12:30 PM with a Masonic Service starting at 12:30 and his funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Alfreda Morse officiating. Burial will be in the Hartland Cemetery with full Military Honors.
