Jean Eliasen near Elk Creek in Rural Rio Blanco County. Enid was the 4th of 15
children in the Eliasen family. She was raised in Rio Blanco County and graduated from
Meeker High School in 1959.
In 1962, Enid met David Steffen while working in Steamboat Springs, where they were
married on June 9, 1962. They made their way back to Meeker in 1968, where they
raised their 3 children. Enid worked at Pioneers Hospital for a time, until she went to
work at The Bakery in 1979. In 1980, she and David purchased The Bakery, which they
ran for 30 years. The Bakery was more than just a place to eat, as the lives of many
young people were positively impacted, by tours, employment, decorating cookies or
having lunch specials during school. Enid loved showing the 2nd graders how donuts
were made and loved even more showing off their thank you letters when they were
seniors. She enjoyed working in the flower garden and always loved playing with her
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her 3 children, Mike Steffen, Theresa Steffen and Lisa (Roger)
Hanna, 7 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren; brothers Edgar (Jo Ann) Eliasen,
Johnny Eliasen, Jerry (Catherine) Eliasen and Ron Eliasen; sisters Ellie (Don) Anding,
Jenny (Ken) Megahey, Sue Eliasen, Zina Eliasen and Sara (Mac) Richardson, along
with numerous nieces and nephews.
Enid was preceded in death by her parents, Sisters Elaine Webber and Liz Devore,
Brothers Earl Eliasen, Ellis Eliasen and Elton Eliasen; nephews Scott Anding, Justin C.
Eliasen, Matthew Richardson and niece Brandi Jennings.
Enid passed away in Walbridge Wing on March 15th with family at her side. A
celebration of her life will be held this summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Enid’s memory
to Meeker Education Foundation to fund school supplies, a cause dear to her heart.
