Alfred Earl Glenn, 82, passed away on January 24, 2026 in Germantown, TN. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Glenn Yelverton (Adrian) and Laura Glenn, both of Memphis, TN; three beautiful granddaughters, Kate Yelverton Lyons (Josh), Ellie Yelverton Dillistone (Declan), and Mary Randall Yelverton, all of Memphis, TN; and his sister, Kathryn Dailey, of Oxford, MS.
Earl, the youngest of six siblings, was born in Iuka, MS on October 12, 1943. During his childhood years, his family relocated to Jackson, TN, where he spent the majority of his youth. Shortly after graduating from Jackson High School, Earl joined the Army and served in the National Guard for seven years. Earl’s entrepreneurial spirit guided him through a variety of business ventures. It was his knack for being able to sell anything that built his career and ultimately led him to open Glenn Carpets in 1973 in Southaven, MS, and later, a second location in Germantown, TN. After his retirement from the carpet business, he enjoyed being a long-distance driver for Blue Sky Couriers in Memphis, TN. For years without fail, you could find Earl drinking coffee every morning with his buddies in Olive Branch, MS, and he always had a joke or story ready to share. He loved his time with these men and counted them as his dearest friends. Earl was a master handyman; he could fix (or rig) anything and often found himself in the middle of others’ projects, especially his daughters’. He was quick to help anyone in need with his truck, a dolly, or his tools. If you knew Earl, you knew he loved the color red, buying and selling his cars and trucks, and having a box of Nutty Buddies in his pantry. Earl was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed. We are confident that Earl is resting in the arms of his Savior and has been made whole.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Independent Presbyterian Church, 4738 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38117. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM.
