Anne Barnes Bowie was born on September 6,1934 in Lauderdale County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Ruby Kirkpatrick and Willie Barnes. She grew up on a family farm in Ashport along with her 4 siblings (Martha, Sunny, Norma Sue, and Bill). She graduated from Halls High School and later met her husband, Bill Bowie. Anne and Bill got married on August 6,1955 at LaBelle Baptist Church. The sweet couple then added two additional members to the family Mike and Robin. Their marriage lasted for over 55 years until Bill passed away in 2010.
Anne worked for Mutual Life Insurance, Southern Cotton Oil, and Kemmon’s Wilson Incorporation in her younger years. She also volunteered at the Madonna School to help with disabled children. Anne lastly enjoyed participating in bible studies. She will be remembered for her exceptional organizational skills and for being such a kindhearted wife, mother, and friend. She would always say “The Lord gave her the gift of service”.
Anne passed away on October 24,2022 at St. Francis Hospital after 3 weeks of being hospitalized with Covid and Pneumonia.
Anne will be laying at rest with her husband, mother, father, sister (Martha), brothers (Sunny & Bill), daughter (Robin), and grandchild (Cody).
Anne is survived by her son (Mike), sister (Norma Sue), cousin (Barbara), cousin (Colleen), granddaughter (Courtney) along with her husband and children (Keith, Kayden, and Kayleigh), grandson (Nik) along with his wife and children (Hayley, Braelynn, Ronan, and Aubryn), grandson (Zakary), and Son-in-law (Mike).
Visitation will be held on November 5, 2022, at Family Funeral Care from 12-1 p.m. at 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. Service will begin shortly after visitation and end at 2 p.m.
Anne will be laid at rest at Memphis Memorial Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134.
