

Mrs. Annie Lou Vanarsdale, 96, was born November 16, 1916 to the late Henry and Kittie Clark in Lexington, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvie Vanarsdale; eight sisters Eula Mae, Alijah Jane, Corrie, Corine, Charlie Mae, Marie, Ida & May; daughter Henrietta; granddaughter Gail Caldwell and great-great-granddaughter Alexis Gates. Mrs. Vanarsdale was nurtured throughout her life at Coleman Chapel C.M.E. Church where she accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful and active member until her illness. Mrs. Vararsdale taught grade school and later became a part of the Memphis City Schools where she retired from. She stayed active when she retired, continuing to serve her good deeds as a caregiver, housekeeper and cook; always willing to help anyone in need. Mrs. Annie L. Vanarsdale departed this life January 6, 2013, at 10:20p.m. at Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee. She leaves to mourn her passing her grandchildren: Larry Vanarsdale, Mina Jones, Roland Jones, Freida Jones and Marlon Ross; great-granddaughters Anika Caldwell and Andrea Caldwell who cared for her; 16 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family and friends. All those who were touched by her life can rest assured that she is in the presence of the Lord.
