Aubrey Cole Pickey Jr., age 77, of Brighton, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 after a brief illness. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 9, 1945, he was the son of Aubrey Cole Pickey, Sr. and Crystal Foy Castlemun Pickey. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Pickey; sons, Scott Pickey (Sharon) and Chris Pickey (Tracey). Also surviving are grandchildren Nathan, Emma, Brendan, Cara and Owen.
Aubrey was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His life work was at Lucent Technologies, Inc for over 33 years. He had a great relationship with his coworkers, who often called him AC. Others called him simply Pickey. After early retirement in 2000, Aubrey started his own business, Pickey Enterprises LLC as a systems analysis (installing phone systems for businesses). His motto for his customers was to treat them the way he wanted to be treated. He retired his business in 2017.
Those who knew Aubrey loved his dedication to serving the Lord and his family. He loved teasing and looking after the women at church who no longer had spouses. He often had nicknames for them and made them footstools for ease of sitting on the pews at church. One of his many interests was woodworking and helping his wife, Mary, with crafts, whether for Christmas decor or Vacation Bible School backdrops. He had a love of model trains and games and telling Mary his designs for their property landscaping. And Aubrey was quite the storyteller, weaving his marvelous tales for many years.
Aubrey joined the Marines Reserves in 1966. He was at bootcamp from May 1966 to September 1966. As a Reserve he was committed and served for many years.
A visitation for Aubrey will be held Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 2:30pm to 3:00pm at East Shelby Church of Christ, 4700 Mayfield Rd W, Collierville, TN 38017, followed by a memorial service from 3:00pm
The family welcomes donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.
