Avis Wayne Ritchie, 83, of Bartlett, passed away May 3, 2014. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 6, beginning at 1:00 p.m., and funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue. Interment will be in Forest Hill East Cemetery. Born and raised in Pontotoc County, MS, Avis moved to Memphis in 1951. He retired from Kraft Foods after more than 32 years, was a faithful member of Berclair church of Christ, and he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and working in the church. Mr. Ritchie was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Cordie Ritchie; and 2 sisters, Mavis White and Bobbye Faulkner. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred L. Ritchie; his niece, Deborah Montgomery of Saltillo, MS; 3 nephews, Rickey White of Pontotoc, MS, Jerry Holloway of Tupelo, MS, and Skip Faulkner of Columbia Falls, MT; and several great nieces and great nephews.
