Barbara Poole, 81, went to her heavenly home on March 29, 2023. Barbara was born to Vera and Louis Harris on August 30, 1941. She had a career as a payroll administrator and worked for Union Planters as a bank teller.
She was married for over 50 years to her husband Toby, who preceded her in death in 2020. Toby and Barbara could often be spotted outside sharing a cup of coffee and a laugh or two out at their home they loving named “The Farm”. They enjoyed many, many trips and shared a passion for the city of New Orleans. Their fiftieth anniversary was spent in New Orleans with a surprise appearance from a multitude of family.
Barbara was an avid crafter. She was a talented crocheter and shared this gift through crocheting many afghans for friends and family. Cross stitch was another talent and she crafted many pictures, towels, and ornaments over the years. Her crafting talents will be cherished by those who were lucky to be on the receiving end of a gift. Barbara also had a passion for flowers, gardening, reading and baking. But she was most famous for her “Cheese Pie”.
She loved the Lord and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Cindy Appling (Jamie) and Lynda Witherington. Her grandchildren, Lauren Hanks (Zachary), Brad Appling (Kathryn), and Katy Witherington. Barbara was blessed with a great-grandchild, James Hanks and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her second, Lillee Appling. She is also survived by her brother, Floyd Harris (Barbara), sisters-in-love Marilyn Harris and Katie Harris and host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Toby Poole and her brothers, Louis Harris and Ernie Harris.
A funeral service is scheduled for April the 4th at 10am at Veterans Cemetery Forest Hill-Irene. A reception for family and friends will follow at Bartlett Masonic Lodge, 2831 Shelby St, Bartlett, TN.
