
BETTY WELLS CHAPMAN, 85, died peacefully at her home on June 14, 2014, with her loving son, Charles by her side. Born in Laurel, MS, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was involved with NAMI Tennessee for many years and was often an honored guest and speaker at MPD officer graduation ceremonies for her involvement with the Crisis Intervention Training program. She was a devoted member of Leawood Baptist Church. As a weekend hostess at Molly’s La Casita (her son, Robert’s restaurant) she was adored by the customers and staff and known for holding babies so their parents could finish eating! She was predeceased by her parents, Anderson and Dolly Wells and Lou Willard and Eugene “Peaches” Roberts, her husband, Arthur Robert Chapman, her infant daughter, Rebecca Elaine Chapman, her son, Robert Anderson Chapman, and her grandson, Kelly Clayton Wilson. She is survived by her sisters, Janice Thompson of Laurel, MS and Linda Long of Salinas, CA, and her children, Deborah Trimble (Jerry) of Southaven, MS, Hal Chapman (Linda) of Terry, MS, Susan Wilson (Clayton), Charles Chapman, and daughter-in-law, Jamie Chapman (Robert), along with nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a blessing to all. Visitation will be at Family Funeral Care on Thursday, June 19 from 12-1 p.m., with funeral service immediately following.
