Blanche Tuggle Vaughan passed away with peace and grace on October 29, 2015 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bryant in 2001. Survived by three daughters: Pam Guyton of Opelika, AL, Patti (Tom) Trobaugh of Lake Lure, NC, and Cindy (Vic) Parks of Bartlett; Grandchildren: Gregory Bone, Amanda (Aaron) Gresham, Bryant (Jessica) Trobaugh, Carissa (John) Palmer, Andrew (Lauren) Parks, and Lauren (Steven) Hall . She was also blessed to have celebrated the births of 11 great grandchildren. Blanche was a wonderful example of a genteel, refined southern lady. Born in Memphis, she attended Messick High School where she met her lifelong love, Bryant. They married in Palm Beach, FL where he was stationed while in the Army then moved back to Memphis and started their family. For their 50th wedding anniversary they returned to that beautiful area to remember the early years of their marriage. Both Bryant and Blanche possessed an unusual appreciation of nature - especially for birds, animals and plants. Their gardens particularly were full of azaleas and ferns transplanted from their travels. Friends and family visiting their home were astounded at the mockingbirds coming to the back porch for treats of raisins. The descendants of these birds still visit chirping for attention. Blanche also was very much a cat person, seeing that the feral cats around her home were cared for in every way. Her daughters are most grateful to Carolyn Marshall for her kindness in continuing this care.
St. Lukes’s United Methodist Church was Blanche’s church home her entire life and she spent many hours there. She was a member of Loyal Steward’s Sunday School Class and United Methodist Woman’s Organization. The young children’s programs were very important to her and she worked tirelessly there for many years. Her family wishes to thank all her friends who reached out and touched her life. Katherine Jones was an important part of helping Blanche stay in her home until she was 90 and we will be forever grateful for her loving care. She became part of our family. Crossroads Hospice also went above and beyond to care for Blanche when she moved from her home to a facility. The love and compassion of these caretakers gave immense comfort to Blanche and her family.
