Bobby Cecil Herndon, Sr.

Bobby C. Herndon Sr. Memphis, TN, 80, of Memphis, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glover and Alma Herndon; his brothers, Jesse Herndon, G.A. Herndon , Billy Herndon; daughter Carol Taylor (Kenny) He is survived by his wife Becky Craig Herndon and their son Hayden Herndon, daughters, Anna Cullum (Rusty), Sharon Smith (Mike); son Bobby Herndon, Jr., (Teri) and their mother Linda Herndon; his grandsons, Christopher Smith (Lora), Colin Smith (Kristin), Ben, Josh and Jeremy Cullum, Kenny Taylor Jr., granddaughter Kayla Taylor, and great granddaughter Ameilia Smith, sisters, Nellie Jean Brea, Shirley Armstrong, Sadie Hester (Phil), Sisters-in-law Myrtis Herndon and Linda Dale Herndon, Brothers-in-law Joe Craig (Ginny) and Bobby Craig (Judy) and a host of nieces and nephews who all considered him their favorite uncle. Bobby served briefly in the MS National Guard and then joined the United States Navy serving on the Battleship Tender USS Piedmont. He was a Maintenance Engineer III at First Tennessee Bank for 45 years. He loved his job and co-workers and often said he never worked a day in his life. He took great pleasure in pranking his co-workers, friends, family and sometimes even strangers and more often than not got the last laugh. Bobby was one truly of a kind and overcame many physical hardships. He was tougher than Nails, never letting life get him down. He never met a stranger and preferred to treat all people as his equal. Bobby was the ROCK of his family always ready to help, and loved his family and friends without judgment or question. We were all beyond blessed to have him as our husband, father, grandfather, friend, and Hero. The family will receive friends at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar, Sunday, December 4th from 11:00Am to 2:00PM with a service to follow.
