He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Jean Powell. He is survived by four sons, Rick (Sandra) Cagle, Randy (Pam) Powell, Ron (Gina) Powell, and Michael (Diane) Powell; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Joe) Shankle and one brother, Gerald Powell.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.; all at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. Interment will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens on Raleigh-LaGrange.
