After an extended battle with Alzheimer’s, Alice Catherine Flynn Wallace, 85, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Wallace attended St. Therese Little Flower grade school and graduated from St. Agnes Academy. She was married for 60 years to the late Robert Joseph Wallace, Sr. They were long-time communicants of St. Louis Catholic Church. Mrs. Wallace had been an employee of MLG&W in her early years and was a long-time member of Madonna Circle.
Mrs. Wallace is survived by four sons: Rob (Teresa), Flynn (Roz), Pat, John (Paige); and one daughter, Jean Wallace Weiss (Billy); eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her parents: Paul Joseph Flynn and Catherine Alice Flynn; her sister, Jean Claire Flynn; her husband of 60 years, Robert J. Wallace, Sr.; and one great-grandson, Anthony Joseph Federico.
The family is especially grateful to “the twins” (Rosetta Dean and Mosetta Dean) who provided loving care to Mrs. Wallace for the last 8 years during her battle with Alzheimer’s. The family would also like to thank her first cousin, Laney Craven, for her many visits and support as well as Joy Wells and Libby Parks for taking communion to her.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. Louis Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be followed by a reception at the church and then burial in Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Louis Catholic School, the Alzheimer’s Association, or to the donor’s charity of choice.
