

Charles Emmitt Peel, Jr., of Memphis, passed away on Saturday, January 30th, 2016. He was born on August 1st, 1917 to the late Charles Emmitt Peel, Sr. and Lucy Lile Peel. Mr. Peel was preceded in death by his two previous wives, Margaret Evelyn Matheny Peel and Eleanor McCarty Cook Peel, a son, William Joseph Cook, and seven siblings, Martha Sigler, Mary Grosjean, Ruth Beaty, Louis Leroy “Pete” Peel, Donna Escue, Elizabeth Inez Armour and William Laurie Peel. Mr. Peel is survived by his five children, Carlisle Cook, Jr. (Sharon) of Peach Tree, GA., Ann McCormick (John) of Memphis, TN., Barbara Blount of Collierville, TN., Margaret Cirtain of Columbia, SC., and Jeanie Cook of Mars Hill, NC., thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, a brother, Earl Peel of Salt Lake City, UT., a sister-in-law, Doris Peel, and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Peel was a member at Highland Heights United Methodist Church. He volunteered often at Methodist Hospital. He even was the top seller of pecans for the Lions Club where he was a member as well. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, February 3rd from 11-12pm with the funeral starting at 12pm at Highland Heights United Methodist Church, 3476 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN. 38122. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church.
