She was born on December 23rd, 1932 and a lifelong native of Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Humes high school and then went on to attend Memphis State. During that time she met the love of her life, Richard Mosteller while singing for the band he was playing in. The two of them were married in 1953 and a few years later, welcomed their one and only daughter, Kim Alison King. Richard and Cyd were also blessed with two grandchildren, Kali and Blake and both shared the same love and devotion to their family.
Among many things, Cyd was an incredibly talented singer. She spent many years singing jingles for Pepper-Tanner while Richard also embraced his love for music as the band director at Memphis Catholic High School. He sadly departed this world in 1997 after a long battle with cancer and 43 wonderful years of marriage to Cyd. She honored his life and wishes by fulfilling her love of traveling all around the
world and loved telling stories and sharing pictures of her travels. In the early 80's, while still singing and filming commercials for several well known businesses in the Memphis area, she then went on to kickstart her career in the Autoglass industry starting at Shute-Pitman Glass. After a few years she then went on to work for Jack Morris Autoglass and devoted 30 years of service to them where she was still
currently working. With Cyd's love of people and devoted work ethic, she left her mark on the Autoglass/Insurance industry and all who had the pleasure of working with her.
Cyd was also a strong woman of faith and a member of St.George's Episcopal Church for 60 years.
Cyd was amazing in every way. She treasured her family first and foremost and embraced every moment with them. She was the true matriarch of the family and it never went unnoticed. She had a way of lighting up every room she walked into and could quickly make friends with anyone she met. A genuine lover of life and the definition of a heart of gold--Cyd brought joy to everyone and all of those around her. She truly made the world a better place and her infectious personality and loving heart will forever leave an impact on all of the lives she touched.
Cyd is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Veatrice Smith and the Love of her life Richard Mosteller. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Alison King; two grandchildren, Kali Alison King and Blake Edwards (Krysta); two great-grandchildren, Murphy and Beckham Edwards; sister, Joy Randolph; niece, Robin Ronk(Steve); nephew, Jim Randolph (Cheryl); and countless other nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM, Saturday, August 26th at St.George's Episcopal Church, 2425 South Germantown Road, Germantown Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cyd's memory to The Room in the Inn Ministry Memphis.
