David “Davey” Simerson, Jr., 48, passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, on May 29, 2019 with his sister, Joy, and his parents at his bedside. Davey had been bedridden since he suffered a stroke on Christmas Day in Germantown, TN. He was the beloved son of David and Judy Simerson of Franklin, TN. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law Joy and George Powell, nephews Bobby Barwick and his wife Britany, Joseph Cozart, Dustin Cozart, twin nephew Bryant Powell and niece Savannah Powell and his great nieces Reese Barwick and twins Avery and Ella Barwick.
Davey was born on November 7, 1970 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a 1990 graduate of Germantown High School and a member of Germantown church of Christ. He recently relocated to Franklin, Tennessee with his parents for medical treatment and was receiving rehabilitation treatment as a resident at West Meade Place in Nashville. Davey loved people, all animals, but especially cats, hot air balloons, fireworks, family card games, the internet and Facebook and just life in general. He was a humble sweet man. Our family is heartbroken, but we are also rejoicing that Davey is now pain free and safe in the arms of Jesus. We will greatly miss him, but we know we will see him again in heaven.
Friends and family will gather for a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue with visitation from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with services beginning at 10 a.m. Donations in his memory may be made to Davey’s favorite charity, St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee
