After a few months, she boarded a train with her wedding dress and traveled by herself to join him in wedded bliss. Four of his Air Corps friends were the only witnesses at their wedding. After raising young children, she returned to work as a secretary for The Memphis City Schools, from which she retired after 25 years of service. Doris was a very active member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church. She and her husband were avid travelers, concert and theatre goers and loved to dance. Until about twelve years ago, they could still awe everyone with their dancing. The family is grateful for the love and care given her at The Gardens of Germantown and for Crossroads Hospice in recent days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to The Alzheimer's
