

Dorothy "Dot" Painter, 93, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 13. She joined her husband Dr. William D. Painter, PhD in heaven not long after telling her children and grandchildren, "I've lived a good life, and I'm ready to go home." She is survived by four sons Ron Painter, David Painter, Eddie Painter, Eric Painter and a daughter Pamela Painter Nixon. Dot was a loving grandmother to Brian Painter, Colby Painter, Chelsea Hadaway, Colin Hadaway, Andrew Painter, Matt Painter, Kara Painter, Ella Painter and her first great-grandchild Harper Painter. She also leaves a twin sister Elizabeth "Betty" May and a sister-in-law Lois Glasscock May. Mrs. Painter was preceded in death by her parents Lillian Wallace May, Rev. Hugh John May, stepmother Grace Justice May, and brothers Hugh John May and Frank Wallace May. Dot was a devoted, long-time member of Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church. She loved to entertain, cook and garden and was an active member of the American Home Economics Association. She poured her life and love into her family, church, friends and community. While raising her family, Dot served in various ministries of her church including the "clothes closet" which provided clothing for children and families in need.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 18 at Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Dot's life and legacy.
