
EARLEEN BIRDSONG SQUIRES, 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord August 5, 2011. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Warren, Arkansas on March 30, 1926, she was retired from Witco Chemical Company. She was an active member of St. Matthew’s Methodist Church for 58 years who loved sewing, cooking, gardening and traveling. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Birdsong, her parents, Earl and Doris Burnham, and her daughter Nancy Drake. She is survived by her husband, Lee Squires, daughter, Lynell Connable (Tom), grandson, Sean Connable (Christina), and great-grandson, Gideon Connable. She is also survived by her step-children James Lee Squires (Carol), Leesa Thompson (Wayne), Tommy Squires (Tonya), Steven Squires (Roxanne), eleven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. We want to say a special thanks to Deborah Muwaji, and to Crossroads Hospice for their amazing care and loving support during her last days. The family will receive guests August 8 from 9 to 10 a.m. and the funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Ave. Burial will be in Warren, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church.
