Eddie N. Austin

Eddie N. Austin, 91, of Memphis, Tennessee died on June 4, 2013 in Collierville, Tennessee. A retired auditor for the Army Corp of Engineers, Eddie was a member & Deacon at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Memphis, & contributed many hours to the Ridgeway Athletic Building. He was a Little League Baseball and Basketball coach and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Eddie was a very active person who would still baby sit his great grandchildren and never met a stranger in his life. The family will receive guests on Friday, June 7 from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening and funeral services will be on Saturday, June 8 beginning at ten o’clock in the morning all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens located at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Military honors will conclude the funeral home services. Mr. Austin was preceded by his parents, siblings and wife Ann Marie Jamison Austin. He is survived by his sons James Austin (Lisa) of Collierville, TN and Bob Austin of Austin, TX; grandchildren Chris Austin of Fort Worth, TX, Joe Austin of Memphis, Ashleigh Lewellen of Nixa, Missouri, Sean Austin, and Dr. Sonya Marie Austin (Dr. Chaeho Kim) of Fort Worth, TX; and two great-grandchildren Austin Kim & Mia Kim who called him “Great-Granddaddy Long Legs”. Contributions in lieu of customary remembrances may be offered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis.
