Evelyn Griffin Goddard

Evelyn Griffin Goddard, of Memphis, died peacefully on November 12, 2013. She was 88. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Goddard, of Paducah, KY; her brother Earl Griffin, also of Memphis; her sister-in-law Bettye Goddard, of Millington; and her brother-in-law Edwin Goddard, of Michigan City, MS. Her husband of nearly 60 years, Charles L. Goddard, preceded her in death last year. She also was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas Griffin and James Griffin, of Whiteville, TN, and John Kirby Griffin, of Memphis. Evelyn had a large extended family including many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. Evelyn had been employed at Union Planters Bank (now Regions Bank) for most of her working career. Evelyn was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Memphis. She was an avid bridge player and also loved needlework. Visitation will be at Family Funeral Home at 4925 Summer Ave on Friday, November 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 10 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4459 Willow Road, Memphis, TN. Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery in Whiteville, TN after the funeral. The family requests that memorials be directed to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
