

She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and was a Cotton Carnival princess.
Frances married Angelo Bursi in April 1952. He preceded her in death in 1998. Frances helped build and manage Angelo's Food Basket and helped with her husband’s construction work. She owned and managed Frayser Drive In Liquor Store. Frances grew up in Frayser and was a lifelong member of our Lady of Sorrows Church. She was a member of the church since 1939 belonging to the Altar Guild and Mothers Club and the book club. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, painting, movie and dinner nights with friends and she was always ready to go when invited to go travelling with family and friends.
Frances had four sons, Angelo “Lee” his wife, Susie Haptonstahl, Peter Daniel “Danny”, Steven, and Raymond. She had seven treasured grandchildren: Paul (Katie), Jessica, and Amelia Bursi, Sarah (Bob) Canale, Anthony (Joey Weber) Bursi, Nicholas (Alicia) Bursi and Zachary Bursi, and two darling great granddaughters Farrah and Milah Bursi. She leaves her most loved sister, traveling companion and confidant Juanita Cacciola Baker. Frances and Juanita were the most perfect examples of what sisters should be. Frances also leaves her dear cousin Ruthie Balestrino, many beloved nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends from all over the country.
Frances never met a stranger and became a mother, or friend or Italian godmother to nearly everyone who had the pleasure to know her.
Visitation will be October 22 from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3700 Thomas, Memphis, with Funeral Mass to follow at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN 38106. In lieu of flowers donations made be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Church or Altar Guild or charity of your choice.
