
Frank Caldwell Pewitt, 85, of Memphis, died early Saturday morning December 8, 2012 at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis. He was born in Nashville, TN. on January 31, 1927. He moved to Memphis as a child and attended school at Southside High School in Memphis. Mr. Pewitt was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Upon his return at the end of the war, he attended and graduated from Memphis State University. The majority of his life was spent in Memphis with the exception of a few years in the early 1960’s when he lived in Three Rivers, MI. Mr. Pewitt was retired from Koppers in Memphis and from J C Penney where he worked at the Raleigh Springs Store. He was a long time member of Southwind Church of Christ (formerly Wooddale Church of Christ). He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Urban and Minnie Neal Davis Pewitt and by his sister, Vivian Odette Pewitt Gonzales. Mr. Pewitt is survived by his sister Edith Elizabeth Pewitt Sullins and her husband, Jerry Raymond Sr, of Springfield MO. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Suzanne Osborne (Brad) of Jackson, TN, Richard Gonzales (Carol) of Lakeland, TN, Rachel Young of Killen, AL, Tara Sullins and Ray Sullins (Cindy) of Springfield, MO and Laurie Macy of Ava, MO. In addition he is survived by 14 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew, all of whom he loved and who dearly loved him. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11 at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. A private burial service will be Wednesday.
