I had Fred on my mind tonight and was telling my son and wife how much of an influence he was on me and how much time he spent with me as well as friends like Jeremy Smith and Mark Wolfe.

So many great wonderful memories I have of being in scouting and all the camping trips we went on. We were only in the troop for a few short years but the memories and what Fred meant to me will last a lifetime.

Fred was a wonderful person and will never be forgotten....

My name is Mike Hardister and I lived in the house behind Fred's on dawn cove. My friend Mark Wolfe introduced me to Fred and I joined troop 46 when I was 12. We had meetings weekly and went camping monthly. Fred was a fun leader and like a second father to a lot of us. Those years were the best of my childhood and we all had lots of great memories. I had a lot of fun with Jeremy and Mark as well as Fred he was a very humorous man and always had us smiling and laughing. Fred taught us so much and was there for you at anytime that was the kind of person he was. I kept up with Fred but lost contact the last couple years. I loved Fred he was a good leader, good man and will always live in our heart and memories. 

I remember Fred when I was a Boy Scout and I enjoyed the various campouts we went on and learning everything about being a Boy Scout. Not only was Fred my Scoutmaster but when I became an adult I also served as his Assistant Scoutmaster. Scouting made me the man I am today and it wouldn't have happened without it.

I kept up with Fred over the years and visited him at his place of business many times over the years. I did lose track of him a year or so ago and I am deeply saddened that this man and mentor has left this world. Rest in peace Fred.

My name is mark Wolfe and I was in Fred’s Boy Scout troop 46, I also lived across the street from Fred for several years. I have a huge amount of respect for Him and I have nothing but fond memories of him!! We never talked about faith but for him to have such a good heart he had to have belonged to Jesus, may he Rest In Peace

I grew up on Morningside. Fred was my boyscout master. Every Monday night we would gather up in that yellow station wagon and head to our meetings at the Elks Lodge. From the time I was about 12 years old we went on several camping trips to Kia Kima in Hardy Arkansas, Heber Springs in Arkansas, Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville TN and occasionally we would go down to Mississippi. These were my wonder years. I joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1994 and while I was away, my parents moved from Memphis back to Covington TN where we’re originally from. I lost touch with Fred but even now at the age of 46, I’ll never forget what he did for us. A mentor and a dear friend, loved by many! May he Rest In Peace!
